About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role in patient care by emphasizing excellence, compassion, and evidence-based practice. This role supports the UAMS Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Outpatient Clinics in Northwest Arkansas. This posting seeks RNs to fill multiple vacancies in the following areas: Joint Specialty Coordinator and Orthopaedic Surgery Scheduling Coordinator, with opportunities to cover additional orthopaedic and related roles as needed. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care, triage, coordination, and collaboration with providers, patients, and families. The RN will work with patients and referral sources to facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, obtain medical clearances, and provide education on complex conditions. The RN partners with patients, families, and providers to develop and implement individualized health plans. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Associate’s degree in Nursing, Diploma RN, or Master’s degree in Nursing.
Must be a graduate of an accredited RN nursing program
Valid Registered Nursing License
Minimum of one (1) year of Registered Nursing experience.
Basic computer skills.
Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information;
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when necessary.
Strong work ethics and accountability.
BLS Current

Orthopaedic experience a plus
EPIC experience

Responsibilities

Assist surgeons with in-office orthopedic procedures.
Assist with patient intake and the rooming process.
Educate patients and families on conditions and DME.
Obtain medical clearances for surgical patients and prior authorizations for surgery, DME, and medications.
Assist with patient physical examinations and laboratory draws.
Coordination and scheduling of outpatient surgical procedures.
Schedules appointments and responds to and prioritizes incoming patient calls as needed.
Telephone interactions require assessment and patient education.
Responds to patient questions appropriately, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
Maintains accurate and detailed records with pertinent information and education within Epic.
Utilizes current nursing practice to provide patient-focused care while exemplifying service excellence, care, concern, respect, and cooperation.
Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
