About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in a 23-bed unit staffed by 37 employees. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6, and technician-to-patient ratios are 1:10–15. The role includes providing nursing care in a Med/Surg Tele or stepdown environment, carrying out common unit procedures, communicating with physicians, and maintaining patient safety. Nurses may float to any area as needed within their skill set.

The position requires familiarity with Expanse, admissions and discharges, telemetry experience, and BLS certification. Previous Expanse experience and the ability to draw labs are preferred. Candidates should demonstrate kindness, critical thinking, willingness to ask questions, and a strong understanding of patient safety and experience.

The unit requires attendance at daily huddles at 0645 and 1845, bedside shift report, and completion of required daily charting. Four weekend shifts are required per four-week schedule. The scrub color is royal blue.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Familiarity with Expanse, admissions, and discharges.
• Telemetry experience.
• BLS Certification.
• Kindness, critical thinking skills, and willingness to ask questions.
• Strong understanding of patient safety and experience.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Expanse experience.
• Ability to draw labs.
• At least one year of acute care experience in a Med/Surg Tele or stepdown unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the unit, including telemetry care.
• Perform lab draws, IV insertions, and Foley insertions.
• Administer IV fluids and medications, including antibiotics.
• Prepare patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures.
• Communicate with physicians.
• Attend daily huddles at 0645 and 1845.
• Complete bedside shift report and required daily charting.
• Float to other areas as needed within the nurse's skill set.
