About The Position

The Registered Nurse delivers patient care using the nursing process, including collecting data, assessing patients, identifying and prioritizing problems and needs, and evaluating care and outcomes. The RN coordinates and provides patient teaching and coordinates care delivered by health team members.

Working with the interdisciplinary care team, the RN conducts initial and ongoing assessments, analyzes data, creates and implements plans of care, and evaluates treatment effectiveness. The role includes safely administering medications in accordance with state-of-practice requirements and organizational policies, coordinating patients’ care across hospital departments, advocating for patient safety through ongoing quality improvement, and incorporating the professional practice model into care delivery.

Requirements

• Valid nursing license in the state of practice.
• Associate degree in nursing or diploma in nursing.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire for Roper St. Francis Healthcare locations; for BSMH, it is preferred at hire and required before independent patient care.
• Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and future innovations.
• Nursing judgment and skills grounded in biological, physical, behavioral, and social sciences.
• Ability to apply the nursing process in patient care delivery and coordinate care.
• Ability to evaluate professional nursing practice to optimize goals and outcomes.
• Skills in health teaching, health promotion, patient advocacy, and partnership.
• Interprofessional collaboration and leadership skills.
• Understanding and use of office and clinical technologies.
• Compassionate, relationship-based approach to patients experiencing illness, suffering, or pain.
• Ability to integrate quality improvement, evidence-based practices, and research into practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
