Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg - Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital - Weekend Only
About The Position
The Registered Nurse delivers patient care using the nursing process: collecting data and assessing patients, identifying and prioritizing problems and needs, and evaluating the process and outcomes of nursing care. The RN coordinates, provides, and directs patient teaching and coordinates care delivered by members of the health team. Working with the interdisciplinary care team, the RN conducts initial and ongoing assessments, analyzes assessment data, develops and implements plans of care, and evaluates treatment effectiveness. The RN administers medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures, and serves as a point of contact for coordinating patients’ care across hospital departments. The role also advocates for patient safety by participating in ongoing departmental quality improvement and incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license from the state of practice.
- Associate degree in nursing or a diploma in nursing.
- BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association; required at hire for Roper St. Francis Healthcare locations and required before independent patient care at BSMH.
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and future innovations.
- Nursing judgment and skill based on biological, physical, behavioral, and social sciences.
- Ability to apply the nursing process in patient care delivery and coordinate care.
- Ability to evaluate professional nursing practice to optimize goals and outcomes.
- Skills in health teaching and health promotion, patient advocacy and partnership, and interprofessional collaboration and leadership.
- Understanding and use of office and clinical technologies.
- Compassionate, relationship-based approach to patients experiencing illness, suffering, and pain.
- Ability to integrate quality improvement, evidence-based practices, and research into practice.
- Accountability for professional actions and effective stewardship of available resources.
- Conflict management and resilience.
- Ability to delegate activities while remaining responsible and accountable for outcomes.

- Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Responsibilities
