About The Position

This full-time, 36-hour-per-week night-shift Registered Nurse II position is on the 23-bed Medical/Surgical unit at Waldo Hospital, a critical access community hospital. The team provides care across the adult lifespan, including telemetry, orthopedics, post-operative care, skilled rehabilitation through the swing bed program, palliative care, and 24/7 on-site hospice support. The unit emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, continuous learning, psychological trust, and staff well-being, with engaged leadership across day and night shifts and opportunities for mentoring, hands-on teaching, job shadowing, and clinical ladder development. The Registered Nurse provides high-quality acute care through patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of outcomes. The nurse collaborates, delegates, and communicates with members of the healthcare team to support optimal care. At the RN II level, the nurse is competent in the clinical role and can care for most assigned patients. When a patient’s needs exceed current skills, the nurse identifies and obtains appropriate resources to build the required knowledge and skills over time. This level includes automatic advancement from RN I after one year when the employee is in good standing and meets RN I requirements. MaineHealth describes its environment as supportive and inclusive and offers competitive benefits, professional development, and well-being resources. The stated pay range is $37.09 to $50.17 per hour; part-time compensation is prorated based on scheduled hours and applicable FTE. Eligible hires may qualify for a sign-on bonus: $5,000 for nurses with 0–2 years of RN experience or $10,000 for nurses with more than 2 years. The bonus is prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees and former members who have been separated for six months or less are ineligible.
