About The Position

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse provides clinical care to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital. The department emphasizes teamwork and effective communication. The RN assesses patients, identifies their needs, initiates appropriate nursing interventions, and provides care suited to each patient's condition and age. The role also includes timely and appropriate documentation, completing and revising each patient's Interdisciplinary Care Plan, and completing timely, accurate quality-improvement assessments.

Requirements

• Current Nevada RN license; compact license is not applicable in Nevada.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• BCLS certification upon completion of hospital orientation.
• ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of hire or transfer to the position.
• Critical-thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a stressful environment, and to take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

• One year of previous experience is preferred.
• BSN is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to the patient's condition and age.
• Complete timely and appropriate medical-record documentation relating to medical necessity.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Perform timely and accurate quality-improvement assessments.
