About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the physiological, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient within their assigned unit area and planning nursing care to meet those needs. The nurse is responsible for ensuring that nursing care plans are carried out through their own performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan.
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific units (2 Central, 4 Central, CCU, ICU, PCU, ER, and 12 South).
• Minimum of two years of experience required in a cardiac critical care unit, step down unit, cardiac cath lab, or emergency department for Cardiovascular Services / CVCU.
• Minimum of two years of experience required in a cardiac critical care unit, step down units, Emergency Department, PACU, Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab or Neuro Interventional Procedures Lab for Cath Lab.
• Either (within the past 5 years): Two Years ED experience OR One-year ED experience with one-year critical care experience for Fenton ER.
• Possess 2 years of clinical acute care experience for Endo / Operating Room / PACU / PAT.
• Minimum of two years of experience required in a critical care unit, step down unit, cardiac cath lab, ER, neuro interventional procedures lab for Medical Imaging/Radiology.
• Competent in starting & maintaining IV’s for Medical Imaging/Radiology.
• 12 months of recent experience (within the last three (3) years) administrating & monitoring moderate sedation of patients for Medical Imaging/Radiology.
• Competent to interpret 12 lead EKG for Medical Imaging/Radiology.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an inpatient nursing unit or ER within the last 5 years as an RN (to include: PACU, CVCU; to exclude: 11S, Joint and Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Cath Lab, OR) for Nursing Resource.
• Minimum of 6 months proven telemetry monitoring/interpretation experience within the last year and/or successful completion of McLaren Flint’s Telemetry Monitoring/Interpretation test within the last year for Nursing Resource.
• ANCC Psych Certification within 2 years of hire or transfer for Partial Hospitalization.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for LDRP.
• Complete the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course and pass the test in accordance with AWHONN standards within 12 months of transfer or hire for LDRP.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in pulling arterial lines or venous sheaths for Cardiovascular Services / CVCU.
• Knowledge of Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps for Cardiovascular Services / CVCU.
• Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab for Cath Lab.
• CCRN certification for Cath Lab.
• Previous experience working in MRI and Radiology setting for Medical Imaging/Radiology.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to standards of nursing practice of McLaren Flint, which consists of a systematic approach to nursing practice by using the nursing process.
• Assesses and documents patient’s status on admission and continuously thereafter, including procedural areas.
• Develops a written plan of care, including long and short-range goals and nursing actions.
