About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing quality nursing care and coordinating patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). This role involves directing and leading assigned team members, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards. The nurse provides patient/family centered care, focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs, including assessment, nursing diagnoses development, outcome identification, planning, intervention implementation, care coordination, health teaching, promotion, and evaluation consistent with MUSC policies. Maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and demonstrating professional behavior is crucial. The position requires active participation in a professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, and professional development to promote leadership and clinical excellence, effective team skills, autonomous practice, accountability, and critical thinking. The nurse will coordinate efficient patient care services using care management principles, identify clinical priorities, and initiate actions to improve patient outcomes, while also promoting a healthy work environment and accepting personal responsibility for professional growth. Requirements

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Nursing License Compact.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Current South Carolina RN License or multi-state Nursing License Compact.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality nursing care while maintaining accountability for the coordination of patient care.
  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Direct and lead other assigned team members.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
  • Provide patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Provide for the assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with the policies of MUSC.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
  • Demonstrate the ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model.
  • Participate in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, participation in peer review and professional development promoting leadership and clinical excellence, effective team skills, autonomous practice and acknowledgment of accountability for actions and critical thinking.
  • Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through the application of care management principles.
  • Identify clinical priorities and initiate action to improve patient outcomes.
