About The Position
Provides direct and indirect patient care in a medical-surgical setting. Communicates with physicians, the Nurse Manager, and coworkers as appropriate about changes in a patient’s clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptoms. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. This is a full-time Med/Surg position in Monticello, Illinois, with three 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., totaling 36 hours per week. The role includes alternating Friday/Saturday weekends and alternating holidays. Required overtime is not scheduled.
Requirements
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS and PALS certification within one year of hire.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in a medical-surgical setting.
- Communicate changes in patients’ clinical conditions, diagnostic study results, and symptoms to physicians, the Nurse Manager, and coworkers as appropriate.
- Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
- Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
- Review current-shift or current-day chart notes for thoroughness of documentation.
- Perform physical assessments and wound care.
- Provide respiratory interventions, including Vapotherm, ventilator, and nebulizer treatments.
- Collect specimens and identify medications.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Assist with monthly crash cart checks.
- Assist in the emergency room when code alerts are called.
