About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) Scrub/Circulator provides safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care during a 13-week travel contract in a Critical Access Hospital in Calais, Maine. The role includes scrub, circulating, and recovery room duties, supporting care through the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.

The position is scheduled for day shifts, Monday through Thursday, consisting of four 10-hour shifts, with 40 guaranteed hours per week. No call is required; holiday coverage is required.

Requirements

• Active Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical or Perioperative Nursing experience.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Proficiency in OR scrub and circulating duties.
• Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• CNOR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
• Perform scrub and circulating RN duties while maintaining sterile techniques and surgical safety standards.
• Assist with post-anesthesia recovery care and monitor patient conditions as assigned.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, infection prevention practices, and patient safety protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical teams to ensure efficient patient care.
