About The Position

Banner Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, Arizona. The Main OR has 16 suites and serves an older patient population. Procedures include general surgery, gynecology, laparoscopic surgery, ENT, plastics, podiatry, urology, robotics, cardiovascular and endovascular procedures, neurosurgery and spine, and orthopedics. The RN applies clinical expertise and judgment to assess patients, plan and implement nursing care, and evaluate outcomes. The role works with surgeons and a multidisciplinary care team and supports quality patient outcomes. The position is full-time, scheduled for four 10-hour shifts (40 hours per week), with a stated schedule of 9 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Mondays and 6:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On-call coverage is required on nights, weekends, and holidays. Weekend shifts receive a flat $3-per-hour differential, and an 18% night-shift differential applies when relevant. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is offered for OR-experienced nurses. The position requires an accredited nursing program or qualifying specialized nursing diploma, an active or qualifying RN license, and BLS certification. A bachelor's degree and professional certification are preferred. Experience in the relevant clinical area is desired; the posting directs new graduate nurses with less than 12 months of experience to a separate job search listing.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in Nursing, or completion of a specialized nursing diploma program including at least two years of specialized training and/or experience.
Current and valid RN license in the state of practice, a temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
BLS certification.
Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of practice through annual validations.
Experience in the clinical area for which the applicant is applying is desired.
New graduate nurses with less than 12 months of experience are directed to a separate New Nurse Experience listing.

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs; review histories, diagnostics, and laboratory results, and report abnormal findings to appropriate caregivers.
Develop and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary health care team.
Provide and coordinate direct patient care according to physician orders, the nursing plan of care, organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Delegate and supervise care activities appropriately and communicate patient status to other caregivers to promote continuity of care.
Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, assess progress toward goals, and revise plans as needed.
Document assessments, plans, interventions, evaluations, patient responses, and physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Use the best available evidence in care and may participate in clinical research, shared leadership, quality improvement, and professional organizations.
Support education, orientation, role development, precepting, and mentoring of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors, as appropriate.
Collaborate with staff, physicians, patients, families, external care providers, agencies, and clergy regarding patient care.
In some roles, supervise department staff and workflow.
