About The Position
OrthoVirginia is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join its surgical team in an outpatient orthopedic surgery center. The nurse works alongside orthopedic surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other perioperative teammates to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout the surgical experience. The position is offered in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The posting states no nights, weekends, or call.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Operating Room (OR) nursing experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and surgical procedures.
- Experience circulating surgical cases.
- Current BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- ACLS certification, if applicable.
- Orthopedic surgery experience.
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience.
Responsibilities
- Circulate surgical cases in a fast-paced outpatient orthopedic surgery center.
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure in accordance with safety protocols.
- Advocate for patients before, during, and after surgery.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the perioperative team.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to promote efficient case flow.
- Monitor patients throughout the intraoperative phase while maintaining safety and comfort.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with inventory management and maintain appropriate supply levels.
- Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition or surgical needs.
