About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical Urology/Genitourinary department delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, which includes assessing the patient, planning the care of the patient, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The RN incorporates age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care and initiates action to meet the patient and/or significant others' need for information. They also maintain continuity of patient care between shifts, inter-hospital transfers, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. This is a Full Time position working Days with a 36-hour work week (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM) on a 24-bed Urology Inpatient Medical-Surgical Unit. The role involves self-scheduling with rotating weekend requirements, working with a multi-disciplinary team, providing life-saving care to patients, and working with a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma required, OR Associate Degree in Nursing required; OR BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – upon hire – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – upon hire required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of nursing residency
