About The Position

Catholic Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Medical Unit at St. Joseph Hospital. The nurse will provide and manage care for medical-surgical patients, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support patient outcomes and satisfaction. The role also involves advocating for patients and building meaningful relationships with them and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.

St. Joseph Hospital is a community hospital providing inpatient, outpatient, critical care, and surgical services. It holds The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval and has received American Heart Association and American Stroke Association GOLD quality achievements for stroke and AFIB care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• New York Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to read and write basic English.

Nice To Haves

• Passion for medical-surgical nursing.
• At least 1 year of RN experience working in Med-Surg is preferred; new graduate Registered Nurses are welcome.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is strongly preferred. Candidates without a BSN must complete the degree within 5 years of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor medical-surgical patients.
• Administer medication and document patient progress.
• Manage overall care for the medical-surgical patient population.
• Partner with attending physicians, other Registered Nurses, and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
• Advocate for patients and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education.
