Registered Nurse. Medicine Stepdown, Full Time Days
About The Position
The Registered Nurse applies the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, provide patient and family education, and plan for continuity of care. The role communicates pertinent information to the healthcare team, collaborates on patient goals, evaluates progress and outcomes, and pursues professional growth through learning activities consistent with Board of Nursing standards. The position is on the Medicine Stepdown unit, located on the 14th floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The unit cares for adults aged 18 and older with a range of medical diagnoses, including pulmonary, renal, hepatology, endocrine, and post-procedural conditions. Some patients require wound care or care involving continuous medication drips, including insulin. The unit emphasizes teamwork and adapts to patients’ needs.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
- Registered Nurse licensure.
- One year of relevant work experience.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate in establishing plans of care, coordinate and implement care delivery, and anticipate patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyze comprehensive information about a patient’s care and management to determine nursing diagnoses.
- Use the nursing process to evaluate progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to support effective outcomes.
- Employ strategies that promote health and a safe, healthy environment.
- Provide patient and family education and contribute to continuity-of-care planning.
- Communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate in establishing patient goals and evaluate progress.
- Engage in learning activities to further professional growth according to Board of Nursing standards.
