About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Acute Dialysis Unit provides patient care and education based on each patient’s illness, symptoms, and course of treatment. The role manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process and principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The nurse administers dialysis treatments in accordance with physician orders.

Requirements

• Technical Diploma/Certificate in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience.
• Registered Nurse license in Florida or an eligible compact state upon hire.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
• Demonstrated proficiency in nursing knowledge and skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• At least 1 year of dialysis experience.
• At least 1 year of intensive care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, identify, and prioritize patient and family needs to provide quality care; develop, discuss, and communicate each patient’s plan of care in collaboration with the care team.
• Safely administer medications and treatments, monitor and document patient responses, and follow safety policies and protocols, including patient identification and risk mitigation.
• Continuously assess patients, detect changes in condition, and communicate with appropriate care team members to support prompt clinical decision-making.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
• Promote effective working relationships and contribute as part of the department or unit to help meet its goals and objectives.
• Maintain current documentation, licensure, certifications, education, competencies, and knowledge in accordance with the unit’s scope of service and professional standards; pursue professional growth and development.
• Administer dialysis treatment in accordance with physician orders.
