Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse
About The Position
DaVita is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide dialysis care to patients with end-stage renal disease and chronic kidney conditions in a hospital setting. This fast-paced, collaborative position works with patients in ICU, CCU, ED, and other acute care units across multiple San Jose-area hospitals. Prior dialysis experience is required, and paid training is provided. Expected training is scheduled to begin in January or February 2027. The full-time schedule is typically 3–4 days per week on day shift, beginning as early as 6 a.m. Availability must be flexible. Regular and potential on-call shifts, weekends, and holidays are part of the schedule, which may change daily based on patient needs. The nurse may rotate between facilities and work in a variety of hospital units.
Requirements
- Prior dialysis experience is required.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Must pass a color vision test; accommodations are available.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 may be required by hospitals in the program, potentially including a booster when eligible.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- ICU, CCU, ER, or Med/Surg experience.
- CNN or CDN certification.
Responsibilities
- Deliver inpatient dialysis therapies, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, and apheresis.
- Collaborate with hospital teams and DaVita clinical staff.
- Monitor patients, adjust treatments, and support quality outcomes.
- Support and oversee patient care with the help of patient care technicians (PCTs).
- Adapt to changing patient needs in a dynamic hospital environment.
