About The Position

The role involves applying nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates or residents, assessing health concerns, supporting physician sick calls, responding to emergencies, and overseeing nursing care provided by other staff. The successful candidate must perform these duties at a pace and level consistent with the job’s performance requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing.
• Possess current licensure in the state of employment.
• Be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• One year of professional nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates or residents.
• Attend sick call with the physician; prepare a list of inmates or residents to be examined and prepare the examining room and equipment.
• Examine and assess new inmates or residents with illnesses or injuries, and those who become ill or injured; refer them to an emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facility as their condition requires.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and notify a Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
• Provide guidance, supervise, and monitor nursing care provided by licensed vocational or practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
