About The Position

Travel Registered Nurse position backfilling a role on the K7 Progressive Care Unit at K Tower in Asheville, NC. The unit has 44 beds and 95 staff, with patient ratios of 4:1 at grid and 5:1 when stretched. The unit uses Cerner as its EMR and equipment including IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, tracheostomy equipment, and patient lifts. The role involves care related to neuro and trauma patients and procedures such as neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube placement, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain procedures, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions. Candidates should be team players with a strong patient focus. Navy blue scrubs are required. Every other weekend is required.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Additional experience in neuro and trauma care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to progressive care unit patients, including patients requiring neuro and trauma care.
• Perform neuro and spinal checks.
• Provide or assist with C-collar placement and TLSO braces.
• Manage care involving chest tubes, PCA pumps, and IV infusions.
• Provide care involving lumbar drain procedures, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions.
