About The Position
The Detroit Medical Center Registered Nurse is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides care for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision. This position is on 4 West, a cardiac telemetry unit caring for acutely ill adult patients with a variety of diagnoses. The collaborative team helps manage chronic illnesses and treat acute conditions, and strives to provide safe, reliable, quality care. RN ratios are 1:5 with acuity-based assignments, and the PCA ratio is 1:8. The unit promotes professional nurse advancement and offers ACLS and arrhythmia/EKG interpretation training.
Requirements
- Graduation from a school of nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.
- Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
- Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
- Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
- Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
