About The Position

The ICU Registered Nurse provides intensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions. The role requires advanced critical-care skills, quick decision-making, and compassionate care. The nurse monitors vital signs and blood oxygen levels, administers intravenous fluids, and communicates with the medical team to support adjustments to care plans. The position is in the Intensive Care Unit at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas. It is a full-time weekend position, with schedules of Friday–Sunday or Saturday–Monday, working 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a Critical Care Course.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained current.
• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in an acute-care hospital; critical-care experience preferred.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to critically ill patients through detailed assessments, care-plan development, and complex nursing interventions.
• Use cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to track vital signs and physiological parameters.
• Safely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing; monitor patient responses for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
• Manage life-support devices, including ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors.
• Provide emotional support and education to patients’ families, acting as a liaison to help them understand the care being provided.
• Document patient care to support continuity and compliance, and maintain infection-control and safety protocols.
