The team provides compassionate, high-quality care to a diverse patient population. Multiple shifts are available. The unit offers flexible self-scheduling, team-building activities, professional growth opportunities, a supportive teamwork culture, and EPIC electronic medical records. Staffing support includes RN ratios of 1:6 with charge nurse and PCT support, and PCT ratios of 1:8–13 with charge nurse and RN support. New graduate applicants are welcome for many RN roles; the stated starting rate for new graduates with less than one year of experience is $36.00 per hour. Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. The Registered Nurse provides competent nursing care using the nursing process. For new graduates, it begins a comprehensive six-month residency program. The program includes in-person fundamental nursing instruction using case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs; exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines; hands-on practice with a trained nurse preceptor; peer networking in a safe, protected environment; and virtual professional-development sessions with mentoring, optional for experienced nurses.
