Our dedicated neurosurgery teams perform some of the most advanced brain and spine procedures using innovative technology and minimally invasive techniques whenever possible. As a caregiver within the Neuro/Spine Operating Room, you will have the opportunity to provide exceptional care for patients undergoing complex procedures while collaborating with experts at the forefront of neurological medicine. Caregivers support patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including epilepsy, Chiari malformation, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks, brain and spinal tumors, hydrocephalus, facial pain, skull base disorders and other highly complex neurological conditions. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • New graduate RN or less than one year of RN experience
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • If performing moderate/procedural sedation must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire.
  • One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records.
  • Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
  • Perform scrub and circulating functions.
  • Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
