About The Position

The SAU (Surgical Admission Unit) / PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) registered nurse provides skilled nursing assessment, plans and evaluates treatment, and administers appropriate nursing interventions to patients admitted to the surgery center. The nurse collects, interprets, documents, and communicates patient information in accordance with applicable state and federal guidelines, rules, and regulations. The role supports safe surgical outcomes and the planned discharge of ambulatory surgical patients. This is a part-time, 0.6 FTE opportunity based at the Plymouth Surgery Center, with 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday. The nurse must be flexible to float to other Summit surgery centers in Minnetonka, Eagan, Vadnais Heights, and Woodbury. The block schedule is to be determined.

Responsibilities

Collect, interpret, record, and communicate pertinent patient data relevant to safe surgical outcomes and planned discharge.
Follow established guidelines for administering safe nursing care.
Organize equipment and monitoring devices needed to perform patient assessments.
Use available resources when planning care, including external resource staff as needed, such as physician assistants, MRI/radiology, anesthesia, and surgeon preferences.
Revise the plan of care as needed to accommodate each patient’s specific needs.
Communicate the plan of care to other center staff as needed.
Provide direct care that meets patients’ physiological and psychological needs.
Continuously evaluate patients’ responses to nursing and surgical interventions and modify the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
