Registered Nurse SAU/PACU
About The Position
The SAU (Surgical Admission Unit) / PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing assessment, plans and evaluates treatment, and administers appropriate nursing interventions to patients admitted to the surgery center. The nurse collects, interprets, documents, and communicates patient information in accordance with applicable State and Federal guidelines, rules, and regulations. This is a part-time, 0.6 FTE position based at the Plymouth Surgery Center. The schedule consists of 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with a block schedule to be determined. The nurse must be flexible to float to Summit’s other surgery centers in Minnetonka, Eagan, Vadnais Heights, and Woodbury as needed.
Responsibilities
- Collect, interpret, record, and communicate pertinent data relevant to safe surgical patient outcomes; assess data concurrently to support optimum patient care and planned discharge of ambulatory surgical patients.
- Follow established guidelines for providing safe nursing care.
- Organize the equipment and monitoring devices needed to perform assessments.
- Use available resources in planning care and utilize external resource staff as needed, including physician assistants, MRI/radiology, anesthesia, and surgeon preferences.
- Revise the plan of care as needed to accommodate each patient’s specific needs.
- Communicate the plan of care to other staff at the center as needed.
- Provide direct care that meets patients’ physiological and psychological needs.
- Continuously evaluate patients’ responses to nursing and surgical interventions and modify the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
