About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to adult patients aged 18 and older in an Intensive Medical Care Unit (IMCU). The unit has 64 beds, including 15 designated Neuro beds, and cares for patients with neuro, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory conditions, including COPD, DKA, sepsis, and myocardial infarction. Care areas also include cardiovascular stepdown and post-operative care.

The unit uses specialty equipment including temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo ventilators. Chronic ventilator patients who are unable to be weaned may be cared for on the unit, with assistance from Respiratory Therapy. The shift runs from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM; block scheduling is not promised or guaranteed. Floating to other units may be required based on patient needs. Required scrub color is navy blue.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in an IMCU or PCU.
• An active New York nursing license and all RN licenses.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to adult patients in the IMCU.
• Care for patients with neuro, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory conditions, as well as cardiovascular stepdown and post-operative needs.
• Use or care for patients requiring specialty equipment such as temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo ventilators.
• Float to other units based on patient needs when required.
