About The Position
The Registered Nurse, Level 1 or 2, functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the nurse continues to build competency in direct patient care, contributes to unit activities, supports improvement of the unit’s care delivery system, and supports peers in providing patient care services. This role focuses on caring for low- to moderate-risk women and healthy newborns, with an emphasis on education and support for the mother-baby dyad. The nurse collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, lactation consultants, fellow nurses, and social workers to provide high-quality care in a teamwork-focused culture. Patient- and family-centered care is expected in all situations, including challenging ones. This is a 36-hour position with day and night shifts of 8 or 12 hours, holidays and weekends per unit policy, and on-call responsibilities. For predetermined, self-scheduled on-call shifts, the nurse must be available to arrive at the unit within 40 minutes.
Requirements
- New graduate nurse with less than one year of experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and problem solve.
- Comfort using electronic computer systems.
- Aptitude for quick learning.
- Availability for day and night shifts of 8 or 12 hours, holidays and weekends per unit policy, and on-call shifts requiring arrival within 40 minutes.
Nice To Haves
- OB experience is preferred; applicants without it may be considered if they can speak to a passion for obstetrics.
