Hospice Registered Nurse Fri/Sat/Sun Nights - On Call
About The Position
Mountain Valley Hospice is seeking a compassionate and confident Registered Nurse to provide evening and overnight on-call support to patients and families in the Elkin and Wilkes service area. The role is suited to an experienced RN who values meaningful patient connections, clinical autonomy, and focused independent work with support from a collaborative clinical team. On-call nurses help ensure comfort, safety, and peace of mind for patients and families after hours. The schedule is Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The schedule is described as predictable and consistent.
Requirements
- Current RN license; state-specific requirements apply.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently while staying connected to a supportive team.
- Calm, confident presence during urgent or after-hours situations.
Nice To Haves
- Hospice or home health experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-call nursing care during evening and overnight hours.
- Respond to patient needs with skilled assessment, sound clinical judgment, and compassionate care.
- Offer guidance and reassurance to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly with team members.
