Internal Contract- Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery
About The Position
The Contract Registered Nurse works in Labor and Delivery and may be assigned to other nursing departments within their area of competency at designated facilities as needed. The RN directs, plans, and organizes nursing activities for an assigned shift, with attention to patient, physician, and staff needs. The RN delivers and coordinates skilled patient care using the nursing process and follows established policies and procedures. The role coordinates care among patients and families, medicine, nursing, ancillary services, and other team personnel; advocates for patients; and maintains current knowledge of professional nursing standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program.
- Valid license to practice nursing in the state, issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners.
- At least two years of relevant Labor and Delivery RN clinical nursing experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Direct, plan, and organize nursing activities on the unit for an assigned shift, focusing on patient, physician, and staff needs.
- Deliver skilled patient care through the nursing process in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinate patient care through the nursing process in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Coordinate care among patients and families, medicine, nursing, ancillary services, and other team personnel.
- Act as a patient advocate.
- Maintain current knowledge of professional nursing practice and standards.
