RN - Registered Nurse - Surgical Intensive Care Unit - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s East, a 14-bed unit specializing in post-operative and critically ill surgical patients. The unit is supported by a Central Monitoring Unit and provides continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Positions are available on multiple schedules: full-time nights, three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am; and part-time days, four 12-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, working every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with a 4-on/10-off schedule. Requirements
- BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer.
- Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 180 days of hire or job transfer.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before hire or job transfer.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Required professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Coordinate care as the primary coordinator across disciplines.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
