Registered Nurse CDH Emergency Department Full-time Nights
About The Position
The Staff Nurse Inpatient is a clinically competent registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse interacts effectively with patients, significant others, and other members of the health team while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice. The role reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values and complies with its ethics, compliance, policies, procedures, guidelines, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. This position is in the CDH Emergency Department and works nights, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., at 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse licensure.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong analytic abilities.
- An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is acceptable with a commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of the first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.

Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff; create a documented, outcome-focused plan that records decisions and communications related to care and service delivery.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
- Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
