About The Position
The Registered Nurse joins an outpatient infusion clinic focused on oncology and provides comprehensive care to oncology patients in a collaborative environment. The clinic has a census of 5–8 patients per day, with the nurse managing a maximum of 3–4 patients at a time. The role involves close collaboration with departmental leadership, pharmacy, and medical staff. Working hours alternate between 08:00 AM–04:30 PM and 08:30 AM–05:00 PM. Orientation includes New Employee Orientation followed by departmental training, typically lasting 3–5 days. Navy blue scrubs are required, and parking is available at no cost. No weekend rotations or major holiday work commitments are anticipated.
Requirements
- At least 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least one year in outpatient infusion oncology.
- Recent experience with Ambulatory EPIC.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification.
- Broad oncology experience, with familiarity treating various cancers, including solid tumors, GYN, breast, and hematology.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
Responsibilities
- Administer a variety of chemotherapy regimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform chart checks, medication reconciliation, and vital sign assessments.
- Self-assign patients to manage time and workload effectively.
- Educate patients on chemotherapy, home care, precautions, and side effect management.
- Maintain open communication with the healthcare team and complete patient information updates.
- Provide symptom management for patients undergoing active treatments.
