About The Position

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse at Fairfield Hospital delivers nursing care to a broad spectrum of patients, from short-stay patients to trauma patients, in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting. The RN assesses patient status, prioritizes problems and needs, implements clinical nursing interventions, and develops and performs patient care plans to improve outcomes while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. The position works with an interprofessional care team and coordinates patient care across hospital departments.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited associate’s or bachelor’s degree program in nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS or ACLS and PALS preferred at hire; certification must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care. ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience (preferred, not required).
• EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and determine the priority of patients’ problems and needs.
• Implement clinical nursing interventions and develop and perform patient care plans to improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support individual patient and population outcomes.
• Care for groups of patients in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate planned and expected outcomes.
• Serve as a point of contact for patient care coordination throughout hospital departments.
• Provide care to a broad spectrum of patients, ranging from short-stay to trauma.
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
