About The Position

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse delivers nursing care to patients in the Fairfield Hospital Emergency Department. The role assesses patient status, prioritizes problems and needs, implements clinical interventions, develops and carries out patient care plans, and helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Nurses care for a broad spectrum of patients, from short-stay cases to trauma, in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting as part of an interprofessional care team.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree program in nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• At least one year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS or ACLS and PALS certification is required before direct patient care; ACLS and PALS must be obtained within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience.
• EPIC Electronic Health Record training.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and determine the priority of patients’ problems and needs.
• Implement clinical nursing interventions and perform patient care plans to improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to achieve individual patient and population outcomes.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to support planned and expected outcomes.
• Coordinate patients’ care across hospital departments and serve as a point of contact.
• Provide care to a broad spectrum of patients, from short-stay cases to trauma.
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with state practice requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
• Help ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
