About The Position

Banner Staffing Services is hiring a per diem Registered Nurse for the diagnostic cardiology department at Banner University Medical Center - Tucson. The role floats among the Main, South, and North campuses and involves working with Fellows and Attending Cardiologists to perform transesophageal echocardiograms and stress tests. It may suit an RN developing a cardiovascular nursing career or transitioning from a critical care procedural area to non-invasive patient care. The position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient nursing care according to organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction and uses specialized knowledge and judgment to provide care appropriate to patients' physical and developmental needs. Registry/per diem roles do not guarantee hours and do not include a medical benefits package. The schedule offers 10-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with call and holiday rotation. Saturday daytime call is 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; candidates must live within 30 minutes of the facility for call.

Requirements

Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or compact RN licensure applicable to the current state of practice.
BLS certification.
At least two years of cardiac diagnostic or RN procedural experience is required for the described ideal candidate.
Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the work area through annual validations.
Ability to live within 30 minutes of the facility to meet the call requirement.
Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require at least one year of recent acute care hospital experience in the specialty area; experience must have been within the past 12 months.

Nice To Haves

ACLS certification preferred.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Professional certification preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Experience in the clinical area for which the applicant is applying is desired.

Responsibilities

Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs; review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; and report abnormal results to appropriate caregivers.
Formulate and revise individualized plans of care and discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
Implement care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision, following physician orders, policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
Promote continuity of care by communicating patient status accurately and completely to other caregivers.
Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, progress toward goals, and the effectiveness of education; revise plans as needed.
Document assessments, plans, interventions, evaluations, patient responses, and physician orders legibly and in a timely manner.
Use the best available evidence in care and may participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting, and mentoring.
Contribute to timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe patient outcomes and improvement of nursing quality indicators.
Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and other health care providers to coordinate care, report or clarify information, and support patients and families.
In some roles, supervise department staff and workflow.
Work with Fellows and Attending Cardiologists to perform transesophageal echocardiograms and stress tests.
