Registered Nurse - ICU
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in the 12-bed Intensive Care Unit at Thompson Hospital, a modern, patient-focused environment with private patient rooms and advanced monitoring technology. The role delivers critical care while supporting meaningful bedside time with patients and their loved ones. The nurse uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care; provides patient education; and coordinates ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing practice standards. This is a full-time position scheduled for 36 hours per week, with 12-hour day, evening, or night shifts and weekend and holiday responsibilities according to department scheduling guidelines.
Requirements
- NYS registered nurse license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- ACLS certification within one year.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- BSN required, or commitment to complete it within five years of appointment.
- Certification in a clinical specialty or willingness to complete it when eligible.
- Evidence of a cardiac arrhythmia course or critical care course, or completion within one year of employment.
- At least one year of medical/surgical experience.
- Ability to prioritize and plan for the unexpected.
- Ability to delegate tasks appropriately.
Nice To Haves
- CCRN certification preferred.
- Cardiac monitoring experience preferred.
- Critical care experience preferred.
