About The Position

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The position works under general supervision and applies advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization. The nurse must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action, using critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. This is a per diem/PRN role with a stated work schedule of 8:00 AM–8:00 PM and one weekend requirement.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher, or a Diploma in Nursing, required upon hire.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse and eligible to practice nursing in Kentucky, required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required within 45 days of employment in this position.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work under general supervision and take appropriate action in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with the patient, family, and healthcare team members.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
• Perform job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
• Support Owensboro Health’s mission, vision, core commitments, and business interests.
• Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
• Perform tasks and behave in a manner consistent with a culture of compliance, safety, and a high reliability organization.
