About The Position

Baptist Health is hiring a Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team at Baptist South in Jacksonville, FL. This is a full-time Weekend Day shift opportunity. Scheduled shift 7:00am-7:00pm. The weekday shift can be flexible. This position does not require call coverage, except for holiday call. The PACU team provides critical post-operative care, ensuring safe recovery from anesthesia. This role is ideal for nurses with strong assessment skills and experience in surgical or critical care settings. Requirements

  • 2–3 years Surgical Services Experience (required)
  • 2–3 years Critical Care Nursing Experience (required)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (required)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
  • CCRN or CNOR (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia
  • Assess and manage pain, nausea, and post-op complications
  • Administer medications as prescribed
  • Monitor vital signs and patient status
  • Educate patients and families on recovery care
  • Coordinate care with surgical and ancillary teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Provides for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement; organization; supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services
  • Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
  • Serves as patient advocate and responsible for providing care to critical patients that require a higher acuity of care.
