About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in the 10-bed Burn/ENT Special Care Unit (BESCU), a variable-acuity inpatient ICU serving older adolescent and adult patients. The unit provides specialized care for acute burn injuries, complex wounds, skin conditions, major head and neck cancer surgery, and reconstructive procedures, including free flap reconstruction. It also cares for patients with newly created surgical airways, such as tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and stents, and patients receiving treatment for airway stenosis and other complex ENT reconstruction surgeries. The RN uses nursing and related sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate culturally based, age-specific patient care. The role coordinates care with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members, and supports continuity of care from admission through discharge. The unit integrates wound, plastic, reconstructive, and airway-management expertise and uses a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach. UC Health is an integrated academic health system serving Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky in partnership with the University of Cincinnati. Its work combines clinical care with research and teaching, and its system includes hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory services, and specialized institutes.
