About The Position

The Registered Nurse on the ICU unit is a key participant in patient care management and follows the organization’s nursing practice model. The nurse works with other healthcare staff to provide effective patient care, uses the nursing process to diagnose patient responses to health issues, and develops care plans based on evaluated healthcare needs and responses.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited nursing course, or at least two years of experience surpassing the minimal qualification required.
At least two years of experience in a relevant role.
BLS certification, either currently held or obtained within 30 days of starting.
Registered Nurse license.
Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including hospital and department/unit requirements.
Command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention.
Effective communication and social skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify and report changes in patient conditions and develop or modify patient care plans.
Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Prioritize patient needs and create, implement, and assess care plans to achieve outcomes, adapting plans as necessary.
Closely observe patient indicators and support evidence-based changes through research and hands-on learning.
Create a caring and safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
Build relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries, managing emotional and physical pain to promote healing and reduce suffering.
Facilitate learning for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members.
Collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care.
Use problem-solving strategies and available resources to support patients, families, and staff.
