The role collaborates with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care. The RN practices within the full scope of nursing expertise and applies age- and population-specific standards in the assigned clinical setting. The RN cares for patients through preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as they move along the continuum of care. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating care, patient assessment and education, triage, and other nursing interventions. Practice must comply with the Nurse Practice Act and administrative rules in the state of practice and licensure, as well as Sanford Professional Nursing Practice standards grounded in the American Nurses Association’s Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses.
