About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the 44-bed Progressive Care Unit in Asheville, North Carolina. This specialized unit takes a team-oriented approach to patient care and is staffed by charge nurses, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and a health unit coordinator on both day and night shifts. Patient ratios are 4:1 at grid and 5:1 when stretched. The unit uses advanced equipment and the Cerner electronic medical record system. The ideal candidate is patient-focused and collaborative.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Strong collaboration skills and a patient-focused approach.
• Work every other weekend.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in neuro and trauma care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Progressive Care Unit.
• Perform neurological and spinal checks.
• Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, lumbar drains, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions.
• Place C-collars and TLSO braces.
