About The Position

The Vascular Access team at UVMMC is a highly skilled group of nursing professionals providing an important clinical service to patients and supporting and partnering with staff nurses. The team is committed to providing high-quality, family-centered care to patients and their families. This role provides vascular access services for pediatric through adult patients. Prior IV skills are strongly preferred, and at least two years of acute care experience are required. This is a bargaining union position.

Responsibilities

• Insert peripheral intravenous catheters and PICCs for pediatric through adult patients using vascular visualization devices, including ultrasound.
• Consult with staff about vascular access devices and complications.
• Care for and maintain vascular access devices and provide clinical interventions for PICC issues, including clearing occluded catheters and managing dressing protocols and skin issues.
• Assess and manage vascular access device dressings.
• Provide unit-based education.
• Participate in quality and process improvement projects.
