About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The position is an onsite virtual nurse role in the Virtual Care department at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The nurse works under general supervision and applies advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization. This role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

The role is full time at 0.9 FTE (72 hours per pay period).

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in nursing, or a Diploma in Nursing, required upon hire.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing required within five years of employment in this position.
• Registered Nurse licensure and eligibility to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as a Healthcare Provider required within 45 days of employment.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Perform functions related to problem definition, data collection, interpretation, and analysis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with the patient, family, and healthcare team members.
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
• Perform job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
