About The Position

UP Health System - Marquette is hiring a Registered Nurse for its 24-bed Neuro/Ortho/Peds medical and surgical unit in Marquette, Michigan. The RN provides care to neuro, orthopedic, and pediatric patients while collaborating with a patient- and team-focused staff. The role is full-time at 0.9 FTE or 72 hours per pay period, with six 12-hour day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and rotating weekends and holidays. RNs may obtain PALS and ENPC certifications to care for pediatric patients. Opportunities are also available to serve as a charge nurse or preceptor and to participate in the Nurse Fellow program. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available to qualified applicants.

Requirements

Current Michigan RN license.
Associate degree from an accredited nursing school.
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within one year.
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within one year.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Carry out plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
Document patient care provided.
Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs.
Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
