RN - Medical Pulmonary Unit - Nights
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in the Medical Pulmonary Unit in Arlington Heights, Illinois, providing patient-centered nursing care. The role is full time at 36 hours per week, with night hours from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. and every other weekend required. No travel is required. The RN assesses patients and gathers health data from patients, families, and other health care providers; coordinates safe, timely, and appropriate care; communicates effectively with customers; and tailors patient and family education to assessed learning needs. The nurse also participates in quality improvement and maintains knowledge of current nursing standards, laws, and regulations.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an associate degree or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and collect health data involving patients, families, and other health care providers.
- Coordinate the patient plan of care to ensure interventions are consistent, safe, timely, and appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all customers in person, by phone, and in writing.
- Individualize patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment of specific learning needs.
- Participate in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional knowledge of current nursing practice standards, laws, and regulations.
