Registered Nurse - (PACU) - Full Time Evenings
About The Position
The Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) uses the Nursing Process collaboratively to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care within their scope of practice. The RN supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within St. Joseph's Healthcare System and the assigned unit. St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care and state-designated trauma center on the Paterson campus, providing complex and routine procedures and a broad range of specialty and subspecialty services. Its nursing team, including St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, has held the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence since 1999.
Requirements
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey.
- Complete department-specific orientation and department-specific certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and an EKG class, to be completed within the three-month introductory period.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), to be completed within six months of hire.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications must be granted through the American Heart Association.
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
