About The Position

The Registered Nurse renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System. This role is in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and is full time, working 36 hours over four days.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current license to practice nursing in Texas or eligibility to obtain one.
• At least 12 months of RN work experience.

Nice To Haves

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred upon hire and required within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to general hospital standards and promotes a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
• Assumes responsibility for nursing components of the patient, family, and significant other education process.
• Communicates with the team, coworkers, patients, and family members, and evaluates their understanding of information.
• Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
• Ensures complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
• Provides a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
• Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
• Uses the nursing process to ensure quality patient care throughout the episode of care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
