Registered Nurse - Adult Mood Disorders
About The Position
The Registered Nurse works on Sheppard Pratt’s 22-bed Adult Mood Disorders Unit, which treats adult patients with a variety of mood disorders. The nurse provides professional psychiatric nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans; administering physician-prescribed medical treatment; teaching and providing psychosocial support to patients and families; directing assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff; and documenting and reporting patient progress to the treatment team. This is an in-person position scheduled for 36 hours per week, from 7 PM to 7 AM, with rotating weekends. New clinical staff begin an extended clinical orientation and training immediately after their first day of employment.
Requirements
- Possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a compact state at the time of appointment and maintain it continuously while in the position.

- Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
- Administer medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
- Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
- Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
- Document and report patient progress to the treatment team.
