About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Observation Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The unit cares for outpatient and observation patients admitted from the Emergency Department for short stays of 24 hours or less. Patients have a variety of diagnoses, including chest pain, asthma, syncope, anemia, back pain, deep vein thrombosis, and heart failure.

The Registered Nurse provides care in accordance with expected standards that account for patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-specific needs. The nurse is responsible for the patient’s plan of care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and provides care directly and in collaboration with other healthcare team members. The nurse maintains current technical knowledge and skills, complies with regulatory and accreditation standards, and holds a current Massachusetts nursing license. This is a per diem position.

Requirements

• Successfully pass the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and hold a current registered nurse license in Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; the posting also lists a Diploma in Nursing as required.
• At least 1 year of registered nurse experience.
